Together they find a special love-can it survive the threat stalking her?

Some small towns grow really good looking men! This is the case with the four Chase brothers. The home grown hotties are on the wishlist of every single woman in town and Maggie Wright is no exception.

Maggie has finally had it with the men she's been dating but a spilled plate of chili cheese fries drops Shane Chase right into her lap. The sheriff is hot stuff but was burned by a former fiancee and is quite happy to play the field.

After Shane's skittishness sends him out the door, Maggie realizes that Kyle Chase has had his eye on her from the start. Now that Shane has messed up, Kyle has no intention of letting anything stop him from wooing her right into his bed.

Despite Maggie's happiness and growing love with Kyle, a dark shadow threatens everything-she's got a stalker and he's not happy at all. In the end, Maggie will need her wits, strength and the love of her man to get her out alive.

Warning, this title contains the following: explicit sex, graphic language, and some violent situations.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

The Chase Brothers.

Shane , Petal’s local Sheriff, Kyle is in landscaping, Matt is the firefighter and Marc likes the ladies.

This is Kyle and Maggie’s book. This was a great start to this series. I am coming in rather late to it as it was first published in 2006.

Maggie has a terrible family, she is led to believe she is not attractive , made to feel small compared to her beauty pageant winning mother and sister, and Kyle is going to help her overcome this.

But, there is another Chase brother showing interest. He is a bit of a man behaving badly in this instalment. He kind of redeemed himself but he was being a dumbass. Albeit an uber smexi one.

Kyle is a gorgeous character he has it in spades.

Leaning forward, he sat his mug down, wiping his hands on his jeans nervously. “I mean that I can’t get you out of my mind. Your lips, your beautiful amber eyes. God, the way you smell - rain and vanilla. Is it a perfume or do you just naturally smell that way? Your skin is like milk. That dusting of freckles across the bridge of your nose, it makes my hands itch to want to run a finger over them. Your smile, you’re so genuine, Maggie. It’s a very appealing total package. And I can’t stop thinking about you.”

Matt and Marc are funny, and Shane...well, he has been hurt so bad that he turns into a dumbass. He is quite good at it. I know I will eventually love him. He has it in spades but he won’t let any chick in. It will be a very special woman that cures him of his love ailment.

The villain of this story is uber creepy and he needed a stinky dead fish slap from me. He needs some serious help!

Maggie can be this uber sweet woman and a little insecure, due to her family...and the next minute she is this tigeress who has all sorts of naughty things coming out of that sweet mouth of hers.

Dee and Liv are great sub character’s and momma Polly and Edward are the best parents to these lads.

Polly, I could just see her in her hairdo and shoes and handbag sorting out her lads when they step a foot out of line. I did chuckle at her Southern manner.

Before she could answer, Polly Chase came through the door and pulled Maggie into her arms. Even at eleven on a Wednesday night, her hair was in its usual bouffant and her spiky heels were on those tiny feet.

I would love a prequel of Polly and Edward and how they met. I think that would be rather awesome to read. Polly is a great character and Edward shows that manly protective side in this book. I think he would have been mighty fine to read about in his younger days.

“You should have seen Edward when he first met Polly. He was the stuff around these parts, he and his brother. All the women of Petal wanted Edward Chase and he had his share of most of them. Until Polly let her hair grow and she suddenly got breasts.”

Cecilia , well this woman needs a stinky dead fish slap and a BIG wake up call. The woman is mean and should never have been a mother. Not to mention the evil other daughter, Jane. That girl needed a dead Barramundi slap from me.

I still have to google , 'shug'. I assume it is a word of endearment by y'all Southern folk. Oh, dear. I looked under urban dictionary...ooo got some odd responses. Not overly complimentary. Somebody needs to tell me what 'shug' means.

This was quite a  little page turner. At first I thought it was going to be a wholesome read....but then Lauren shows us a more mature age read, throw in some suspense and those Chase brothers.

This was a great start to the series. I am looking forward to Shane getting the rug pulled out from under him and finding a love that will do that to him. The lad is letting life pass him on, at the same time he is giving his loins a good work out. But who will capture his heart and soul?

I must read on.....
